Review - Day of the Faculty 2025
On November 7, 2025, around 300 invited guests celebrated the 28th Day of the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the Heinz Schönfeld lecture hall. Among them were graduates of the Faculty and their families, professors and Research Associates, emeriti, sponsors and the FSR ET. Around 70 graduates were bid farewell and 15 doctoral candidates were congratulated on completing their dissertations. Prof. Dr. Angela Rösen-Wolff (Vice-Rector Research and Technology Transfer at TU Dresden) and the Dean of the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Afterwards, the Managing Director of Newwork Software GmbH, Mr. Rainer Gläß, gave a speech about his career as a successful entrepreneur. In June of this year, Gläß was also named Alumni of the Month by TU Dresden.
Furthermore, prizes with a total value of 9500 euros were awarded: The Hermann Willkomm Prize 2025 for the best Information Systems Engineering thesis went to Dipl.-Ing. Alexander Groß and Dipl.-Ing. Nicolas Schmitt. This year's Highvolt Prize for the best thesis in the field of electrical energy technology was awarded to Dipl.-Ing. Arian Gerlach. This year's Johannes Görges Prize for the faculty's best thesis went to Dipl.-Ing. Nicolas René Bachmann. The Carl Friedrich von Siemens Foundation honored Dr.-Ing. Hector Andres Gonzalez Diaz with this year's Barkhausen Prize for the best dissertation. The program was musically framed by the musicians of the "BMW-Band", whereby the violinist Mr. Michael Bartsch comes from the university orchestra (Bernhard Brinkel (guitar), Michael Bartsch (violin), Wolfgang Kersten (bass)). Afterwards, the guests were able to round off the evening with a buffet and music.
