From gait analysis and jump diagnostics to AI as a heart specialist: Discover the future of biomedical engineering
TU Dresden lights up nationwide Night of Biosignals
On November 15, 2024 between 6:00 pm and midnight, the Night of Biosignals is taking place across various German cities. To mark the occasion, TU Dresden’s Institute of Biomedical Engineering (IBMT) is opening its door to the public. In six fascinating presentations, researchers at IBMT will take the audience on a journey to explore the world of biosignals. They provide insights into the complex signals in our body and their applications in medical research, diagnostics and therapy.
Every hour on the hour, experts will present the latest developments in the field of biomedical technology. The evening will be opened at 6:00 pm by Dr. Martin Schmidt, Research Group Leader of the Biosignal Processing Group at IBMT. In his presentation, he will cast a spotlight on the role of artificial intelligence in biomedical research – from diagnostic support to personalized medicine and pharmaceutical research. The focus is on exploring just how “intelligent” artificial intelligence is in biomedical engineering. Using specific examples from the IBMT, Martin Schmidt shows what impressive progress has already been made and where there is still untapped potential.
“With the Night of Biosignals, we not only want to get young people excited about our Biomedical Engineering degree program, but also give the people of Dresden an insight into our research. We will be presenting exciting topics such as gait analysis, jump diagnostics and non-contact measurement of vital signs. We will also discuss whether artificial intelligence will be our heart specialist of the future, and present our latest findings on brain wave patterns and ultrasound-based diagnostics,” explains Schmidt.
All presentations can be visited free of charge. They will be held at the Fetscher Forum, 1st floor, Fetscherstrasse 29, 01307 Dresden. This event provides a unique opportunity to meet scientists working in this field, to familiarize yourself with current research projects and experience the latest developments in biomedical engineering through live demonstrations. Due to limited capacity, we kindly ask you to register in advance. The Night of Biosignals is organized by VDE DGBMT Technical Committee for Biosignals.
