Prof. J. Czarske, Outstanding Reviewer & Editor for Light Science & Applications
Opening speech of Prof. J. Czarske at International Optoelectronic Expo
On June 12, 2026, Prof. Juergen Czarske was honored for his outstanding voluntary service to the international engineering and physics community. During the international Light Conference 2026, he received the Outstanding Editor Award from the prestigious journal Light: Science & Applications (LSA).
The award was presented by Prof. Konstantin Novoselov, recipient of the 2010 Nobel Prize in Physics for the discovery of graphene.

In addition to the Outstanding Editor Award, Prof. Czarske also received the Outstanding Reviewer Award from Light: Science & Applications. He was the only scientist honored with both distinctions, recognizing his exceptional contributions as both editor and reviewer for one of the world's leading journals in optics and photonics.

As part of the conference program, Prof. Czarske delivered an invited presentation highlighting recent achievements of a TU Dresden research project in the field of quantum technologies.
Furthermore, in his role as Vice President of the International Commission for Optics (ICO), he gave the opening address at the International Optoelectronics Expo.
As the global umbrella organization for optics and photonics, the ICO was a sponsoring partner of the Light: Science & Applications conference, underscoring its commitment to fostering international collaboration and scientific excellence in the field.
