Juergen Czarske (Fellow OSA, SPIE, EOS) is full professor, director and senator of the TU Dresden, Germany. He studied electrical engineering and physics and obtained his PhD degree and the Venia Legendi from Leibniz University of Hannover, Germany. From 1986 to 1991 he was funded with a scholarship of the company Siemens AG and worked in their research and development laboratories in Munich. From 1991 to 1996 he was employed as scientific member and assistant of the professor at the Leibniz University. From 1995 to 2004 he was as Postdoc responsible for the metrology development in the Laser Center Hannover (LZH e.V.). As visiting scholar he has conducted research in Japan (NTT) and USA (MIT, Bell Labs, Stanford, Virginia Tech, NASA, CalTech) from 1996 to 2001. Since 2004 he is C4 professor based at TU Dresden. Since January 2016, Prof. Czarske is Director of Institute of Circuits and Systems. His awards include the 1996 AHMT Measurement Technique Prize, a 2008 international Berthold Leibinger Innovation Prize, a 2014 Reinhart Koselleck Project of German Research Foundation and the 2019 Joseph Fraunhofer Award and Robert M. Burley Prize of The Optical Society (OSA), recognizing research accomplishments in optical engineering. Prof. Czarske is associate editor of Journal of the European Optical Society-Rapid Publications, elected member of Saxon Academy of Science in Leipzig, the Scientific Society for Laser Technology (WLT) and board member of German Society of Applied Optics (DGaO) and German Association of Laser Anemometry (GALA), as well as advisor of Student Chapter Dresden of SPIE. Prof. Czarske has conducted more than 800 talks and papers, especially about 200 papers in peer-reviewed journals, over 100 invited talks and he holds over 20 patents. Prof. Czarske is Life Fellow of OSA and SPIE, Fellow of EOS and senior member of IEEE. Together with his employees and students he has formed the laboratory MST to a renowned institution for computational laser and ultrasound-based measurement systems. Over 60 scientific prizes and honors have been awarded to students and employees of the laboratory.

Florian Bürkle studied physics at the Goethe University Frankfurt and earned his master in 2018. Since October 2018 he is PhD student at the MST working on high resolution measurements with the laser Doppler velocity profile sensor (LD-PS). His research focuses on micro-scale flows like in fuel cells or high gradient flows close to walls. Furthermore, simultaneous high precision temperature and velocity profile measurements are a topic of research.

Lars Büttner studied physics at Clausthal University of Technology, Clausthal-Zellerfeld, Germany. Since 1999, he was a Research Fellow with the Laser Zentrum Hannover, Germany. He received the Ph.D. degree in physics from Leibniz Universität Hannover, in 2004. Since 2005, he has been with Technische Universität Dresden, Dresden, Germany, where he is currently the Head of the Flow Measurement Group at the Laboratory for Measurement and Sensor System Techniques. His current research interests include laser- and ultrasound-based measurement techniques and adaptive optical systems.

Zeyu Gao graduated from Tianjin University in 2016. Since 2016, he has been a PhD student at Key laboratory of Adaptive Optics, Institute of Optics and Electronics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. In 2019, he recieved a scholarship from Chinese Academy of Sciences and German Academic Exchange Service (CAS-DAAD Joint Fellowship Programme). Since August of 2019, he has been a visiting PhD student and research assistant at MST, working in the fields of adaptive optics. His current research interests include Intelligent adaptive optical system (AIAO), deep learning, wavefront measurement and imaging metrology.

Lars Grüter studied electrical engineering at the TU Dresden and received his Diploma in 2020. Since then he is a PhD student and research assistant looking into new methods for ultrasound imaging in opaque and difficult to access media such as liquid metals or the human skull. His research interests include image and signal processing in general as well as its medical application and advancements of Python's scientific ecosystem. He develops and maintains the command line tool PtvPy for the laboratory.

Nektarios Koukourakis studied electrical engineering at the Ruhr-University in Bochum, where he also received his Ph.D. in 2012. Since 2013 he has been a research fellow at the Laboratory for Measurement and Sensor System Techniques, where he became head of the biophotonics group in 2016. His current research interests include quantitative phase imaging, holography, wavefront shaping, computational and adaptive microscopy, lensless endoscopy and fiber based optical communication.

Benedikt Krug received a diploma degree in electrical engineering from Technische Universität Dresden in 2018 and was supported by the German Academic Scholarship Foundation. Since 2019 he has been working as a member of the research staff and PhD student at the Chair of Measurement and Sensor System Technique. His field of research is the optical high-resolution measurement of mechanical properties for biomedical applications using Brillouin techniques. He received the study award of the SEW-Eurodrive Foundation as well as the Johannes-Görges-Prize for his work.

Robert Kuschmierz studied at TU Dresden. Since 2012, he is a Research Fellow with the Laboratory for Measurement and Sensor System Techniques. He received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from TU Dresden, in 2017. For his Ph.D. thesis he received the measurement technique award from the company SICK and the award for outstanding dissertations from the Dr.- Ing. Siegfried Werth Foundation. Since 2017, he is Head of the optical process metrology group at the Laboratory for Measurement and Sensor System Techniques. His current research interests include interferometry, holography and wavefront shaping for measurements at rotating machinery, sound-flow interaction, flame characterization as well as for lensless endoscopy.

Julian Lich received a double master’s degree in mechanical engineering at the TU Ilmenau and the Pontificial Catholic University of Peru in 2017. Since then, he works as a PhD student at MST on optical methods to measure the structure dynamic behaviour of rotating structures at high rotational speeds. His current research interests include diffraction grating based deformation measurements and digital image correlation.

Richard Nauber received a Diploma degree in mechatronics from the TU
Dresden in 2010 and worked as embedded software developer for a
renewable energy company afterwards. Since 2012 he is a research fellow
with the laboratory for measurement and sensor system techniques,
currently as head of the ultrasound metrology group. Mr. Nauber received
the UBERTONE student paper award in 2012. His current research interests
include the development and application of ultrasound-based imaging
techniques with adaptive sound field.

Stefan received a Diploma degree in electrical engineering from the TU Dresden in 2018. Since then Stefan is part of the Biophotonics Group led by Dr. Koukourakis. His research focuses on methods for computational imaging such as digital holography or machine learning based approaches. In this context, concepts for adaptive wavefront shaping with spatial light modulators such as phase-only SLMs or digital micromirror devices are applied. The research contents are mainly used to investigate novel communication and security technologies in fiber-based communication networks. Since 2019 Stefan is president of the SPIE student chapter at TU Dresden.

Wenjie Wang received a Master degree in the field of computational electromagnetics from Anhui University in China in 2017. She received Chinese Scholarship Council (CSC) scholarship in 2017. David Weik received a Diploma degree in electrical engineering from the Dresden University of Technology in 2017. Afterwards, he worked in the Fraunhofer Institute for Machine Tools and Forming Technology IWU, Dresden, in the field of life science, especially in the development of tactile surgical instruments. Since 2019, he is a research fellow with the laboratory for measurement and sensor system techniques and member of the ultrasound metrology group. His research currently focusses on ultrasound imaging techniques in turbulent liquid metal flows. Qian received a Diploma degree in Electrical Engineering from the TU Dresden in 2020. Since then he has been a PhD student at the Laboratory for Measurement and Sensor System Techniques. His research focuses on the application of artificial intelligence in optical measurement systems. With his computer-based approaches, Qian aims to contribute to more cost-effective and efficient measurement systems by replacing the use of conventional components in modern measurement systems with intelligent algorithms. His research interests include deep learning, physical layer security in optical waveguides or adaptive optics.
