The professorship introduces itself
Electric power supply is currently undergoing fundamental changes. In addition to the integration of decentralised and supply-dependent power generation systems (wind and photovoltaic systems), electric vehicles will also be connected to the low-voltage grid in the future.
In addition, small and smallest combined heat and power units, so-called micro CHP plants, are integrated into this network. In the future, a very large part of the electrical energy will be produced in today's distribution grid level. This creates completely new requirements for the operational management, selective protection and supply quality in these networks. Basic investigations are also necessary in connection with system management (stability, voltage maintenance, etc.).
The work of the professorship
With courses in several interdisciplinary courses of study in the field of engineering sciences, the professorship makes a significant contribution to the training of future engineers. The integration of current research results into the courses ensures optimal preparation for future challenges.
Within the framework of research, basic and application-oriented projects in the fields of electrical energy supply and application are being worked on. The focus is on the planning and operation of electrical networks, protection and control technology and current and voltage quality, as well as smart grid applications and fundamental investigations of energy and instrumentation transformers.
In systemic approaches, interdisciplinary solutions are developed in cooperation with partners from science and transferred into a sustainable application together with our industrial partners. Cooperation is always demand-oriented and encompasses publicly funded research projects in the national and international arena as well as contract research and industrial cooperation.
Numerous highly budgeted collaborative projects with a large number of project partners from theory and practice were realized under the direction of the professorship. Both the established know-how in the management of complex projects and the IT framework conditions were proven. We are happy to contribute our experience and knowledge to future projects
In addition, our modern and extensive laboratory equipment forms an ideal environment to develop creative and innovative solutions for future challenges in the field of energy technology.
