Mustafa Saraoğlu is a postdoctoral researcher (Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter) at the Institute of Automation (IfA) at Technische Universität Dresden (TUD).
He first visited TUD in 2016 as an Erasmus student during his last year of Master's studies at Istanbul Technical University (ITU). Upon graduating from ITU with a Master of Science degree, he began his PhD studies at TUD in 2017 with the Saxon scholarship program. In 2019, he started working as a full-time research assistant and obtained his PhD degree from TUD based on the thesis entitled "On Safety Assessment of Automated Driving Systems Using Simulation-based Testing and Formal Methods" in 2024.
His area of interest includes control theory, decision-making, and safety assessment of automated driving systems. He also supports the two courses given by Prof. -techn. Klaus Janschek at the Chair of Automation at IfA as a teaching assistant (Übungsleiter): Mechatronische Systeme in the winter and Automatisierungstechnik in the summer semesters. He has participated in numerous scientific publications as an author and supports IfA by supervising undergraduate theses (Studienarbeit, Diplomarbeit).
