Introduction to Sensor Technology

(Status: Feb. 2026)

The module includes:

  • physical effects that connect the different measured variables of sensors with electrical output variables
  • Sensors are defined by their material properties, the transducer mechanism, the manufacturing technology and their adaptation to specific application requirements
  • The design of sensors as well as their integration and operation in systems

After completing this module, students will be familiar with

  • apply physical principles of sensors
  • to connect couplings and disturbances occurring due to material properties, production and common applications
  • estimate the magnitude of the effects and compare them with other influences
  • use sensors in applications
