In the future workshop "Lusatia 2050 - Energy in Focus", stakeholders from research, business and civil society discussed what a sustainable energy landscape of the future could look like. The moderated, creative exchange took place in three phases and resulted in a common understanding of the problems of the energy transition, visualized visions of the future for 2050 and concrete measures for the structural change region of Lusatia. The workshops showed that an exchange at eye level between science and practice leads to more than just technological negotiations. Originally conceived as a participatory format for science communication, it became clear that it is all about listening - insights are gained particularly when practical knowledge is included. The urban-rural differences and the contrast between homogeneous research groups and heterogeneous groups were striking as soon as researchers entered into an exchange with non-scientific stakeholders from business and politics. The jointly developed approaches of stakeholders with different roles and responsibilities should strengthen acceptance and innovation in the region in the long term. A key finding: The visions for the future and the measures put the community at the center of the energy transition, not the technology. |
| Scientific support: | As part of the doctorate, the participatory format will be scientifically evaluated in order to derive findings for cooperation between science, business and society. |
