Manfred Hirschvogel Prize Awarded to Dr. Paul Dominic Seibert

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Paul Dominic Seibert on being awarded the Manfred Hirschvogel Prize.

The Manfred Hirschvogel Prize is awarded to the best dissertation in the field of mechanical engineering from the previous calendar year. This year, the prize went to Dr. Paul Dominic Seibert for his dissertation titled “Microstructure Reconstruction from Differentiable Descriptors – A General Framework and Adapted Algorithms.”

His work focuses on the reconstruction of microstructures based on differentiable descriptors, thereby making an important contribution to the data-driven description and modeling of complex material structures. The award-winning dissertation is closely linked to key research topics of RTG 2868 D³ – Data-driven Design of Resilient Metamaterials.
