Honorary doctorate for Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Dr. h. c. Christel Baier
At the Faculty of Computer Science at TU Dresden, Christel Baier's work as holder of the Chair of Algebraic and Logical Foundations of Computer Science, which is associated with numerous publications, is held in high esteem. Prof. Christel Baier has done pioneering work in the field of research known today as probabilistic model checking (PMC). PMC describes the behavior of systems and their environments using probabilities. For example, the failure of hardware components, the wear and tear of machines, the frequency of user requests or climate-related influences can be quantified using PMC methods.
Honorary doctorate for Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Dr. h.c. Heiko Vogler
Prof. Heiko Vogler, was Professor of Fundamentals of Programming at the Institute of Theoretical Computer Science from 1994 to 2023 and Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science from 1997 to 2000. His outstanding research work was particularly in the areas of automata theory and formal models in the translation of natural languages.
Honorary doctorate for Prof. Dr. rer. nat. habil. Dr. h. c. Alexander Schill
Prof. Alexander Schill headed the Chair of Computer Networks from 1993 to 2023. His main research interests are distributed systems and middleware, high-performance communication, mobile computing and multimedia applications, as well as advanced teleservices such as teleteaching and teleworking. He received his doctorate and habilitation in computer science from the University of Karlsruhe, Germany. Prof. Schill received an honorary doctorate from the Universidad Nacional de Asuncion, Paraguay.
