NETWORK TRAFFIC MEASUREMENT AND ANALYSIS CONFERENCE (TMA) 2024
The 8th Network Traffic Measurement and Analysis Conference (TMA Conference 2024) took place in the Andreas-Pfitzmann-Bau from May 21-24, 2024. More than 100 researchers from Europe, North and South America, Africa and Asia were hosted by the Faculty of Computer Science at TU Dresden to discuss current research results in the field of Internet measurements. The event covered a wide range of topics, including aspects of core infrastructure, Internet services and applications as well as wireless networks. The results presented have the potential to make the Internet more robust, secure and capable in the future.
The first two days of the conference were accompanied by a doctoral forum, in which young researchers not only presented their results in poster sessions, but also gained practical insights into the methods and tools that are important to them through four tutorials. As excellent research is primarily the result of working together, a great deal of emphasis was placed on personal networking, including during a volleyball tournament at CityBeach Dresden. A guided tour of the campus, accompanied by the Office for Academic Heritage, Scientific and Art Collections of TU Dresden, provided participants with exciting background information on the unique, inspiring environment of TUD.
The conference days on Thursday and Friday were each introduced with a keynote speech. Ralph Holz from the University of Münster spoke about "A case for Internet Transparency - the Responsible Internet" and Nishanth Sastry from the University of Surrey gave exciting insights into "Counting Stars: Earth-based Strategies to Understand Space-based ISPs". Furthermore, 15 papers evaluated in a peer-review process were presented. Mirja Kühlewind (Ericsson and member of the Internet Architecture Board (IAB), among others) and Nitinder Mohan (TU Munich) chaired the program committee.
The TMA 2024 was organized by the Chair of Distributed and Networked Systems. The FOSTER program of TU Dresden, IEEE, IFIP, IEEE ComSoc and ACM SIGCOMM as well as Internet operators supported the event.
