ROBERTO CALANDRA HOLDS KEYNOTE AT IROS 2025
The International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS) is the second largest conference in the field of robotics. Over 8,000 robotics experts from all over the world met in Hangzhou, China, from October 19-25, 2025 to discuss developments for the future.
Among them was Prof. Roberto Calandra, Professor of Machine Learning for Robotics and Head of the Laboratory for Learning, Adaptive Systems and Robotics (LASR). In his keynote speech "Digitizing Touch and its Importance in Robotics", he spoke about the latest developments in the field of touch perception: from new human-related hardware to the development of new AI algorithms for touch processing and demonstrations of the importance of touch in robotics.
Roberto Calandra: I am very pleased that I was able to present my scientific work at the intersection of robotics and machine learning at IROS 2025. The aim of our research is to make robots smarter and more useful in the real world.
