Students wanted for self-reproducing robots
Background
This project is part of Cluster B, "Software-defined mobile supply chains" in Boysen-TU Dresden Research Training Group. See more details on https://tu-dresden.de/ing/maschinenwesen/iet/boysen/joker4/cluster/cluster-b-software-defined-mobile-supply-chains.
Introduction
The topic aid is providing a resilient and automatic way to create robots by themselves. There are some applications about self-reproducing robots in the mechanism, but they are not well structured. This topic focuses on the software system's high-level formalism to make robots assemble components and generate a new robot model.
Research topic includes:
- Grammar-based Programming for Robots: To describe a robotic system, we should include numerous information, not just the robot itself. We should consider the unpredictable environment and hierarchical specification. The AST has a hierarchical nature and can be applied for recursive tasks suitable to achieve robotic application. We will use grammar to build the world model, robot model, and action model.
- Task and motion planning for Robots: Assembly in robotics is a complex process. It involves the decomposition of workflow, reasoning these discrete actions, and continuous motions.
