Topics
This lecture provides a holistic overview of enterprise software. It is split into three core modules.
The first module focusses on Enterprise Software.
In an introductory session we will explain the business context
in which enterprise software is used as well as a few fundamentals of economics.
Furthermore, the lecture will cover the application layer.
After giving an overview of a typical system landscape we will address the various
types of enterprise applications including Enterprise Resource Planning, Supply Chain Management,
and Customer Relationship Management. Finally, we will have a hands-on exercise with a SAP ERP system
working on a concrete case study.
The second module explains programming in ABAP.
It gives an introduction into the programming of business applications
using ABAP as a programming language. We will also introduce SAP‘s programming
environment - the ABAP Workbench.
Finally, mobile computing will be discussed in the third module of this lecture.
Lecture Time and Venue
The lecture is given in seven blocks with two double periods each and covers 2 SWS / 3 ECTS.
It is given on every second Tuesday at 3.DS (11:10 - 12:40 AM) and 4.DS (1:00 - 2:30 PM) in room INF/E051.
The lecture is expected to be hold on the following dates: 23.10.12, 06.11.12, 20.11.12, 04.12.12, 18.12.12 (canceled), 08.01.13, 15.01.13, and 29.01.13.

The lectures' slides are available as handouts. They will be handed out in the beginning of every course.
Exams
Participants can receive a mark via an oral exam or a not graded certificate of attendance.
For the latter you need to sign the attendance list provided during each lecture.
An oral exam covering the topics of this lecture takes 20 minutes. Furthermore, the presented content can be examined as a part of a complex exam.
Please check your exam regulations which type of credit (mark / certificate) you need. If you are interested in an examination date or a certificate of attendance, please write an email to katrin.heber[at]tu-dresden.de (Secretary of the Chair of Software Technology). She will schedule the exams.
