Adaptive, Mobile Information Provision in Digital Health
Advanced seminar (SS 24) - Organisation- 26.03.24 Course is online
In the rapidly evolving landscape of digital health, the advent of adaptive and mobile data provision systems such as smart glasses, tablets, and wearables is revolutionizing healthcare delivery and management. These innovative technologies promise to enhance patient care, improve health outcomes, and streamline healthcare operations. This seminar is designed to offer participants an entrance to these cutting-edge approaches, exploring their capacity and challenges to redefine healthcare through technology-driven solutions.
Our journey will commence with a general introduction to these technologies, highlighting their capabilities to provide real-time health data and adapt to the individual needs of users. We will explore the diverse applications of smart glasses in offering hands-free access to medical records for healthcare professionals, wearables in monitoring vital signs and flagging potential health issues, and tablets in enabling telehealth consultations and chronic condition management.
Following the introductory session, participants will witness a live demonstration of these technologies in action. Aftwards, the participants will have the opportunity to select a research topic related to the themes discussed and embark on their investigations in small groups. This collaborative research endeavor will encourage a deeper dive into specific aspects of digital health technologies, fostering critical thinking, innovation, and teamwork.
The culmination of this seminar will be the conduct and presentation of a research paper by each group. This exercise is designed to consolidate the knowledge acquired, allowing participants to articulate their findings and propose innovative solutions to real-world healthcare challenges. Through this process, attendees will not only gain a thorough understanding of adaptive and mobile data provision systems in digital health but also develop valuable research and presentation skills.
As we explore the intersection of technology and healthcare, this seminar invites you to engage with the future of medicine—a future where technology-enhanced healthcare delivery opens new horizons for patient care and health management.
The following research topics will be provided (list will be extended):
- AI in early warning systems and decision support systems
- Gesture control for data glasses systems
- Process mining for Adaptive, Mobile Information Provision / HAID Systems
- UI/usability guidelines and heuristics for small screens (like in wearables - smartwatches and smartglasses in particular) as well as in hospital systems
- ...
Prerequisites: Advanced knowledge of software design and engineering, especially distributed systems, machine learning, data visualization; interest in medical issues<\p> The organization will take part in OPAL.
