General procedure of the professional internship and required forms
The professional internship is a compulsory module (INF-D-930) of the diploma program in computer science (examination regulations 2010). The aims of the module are the promotion of social competences, the acquisition of first professional practical experiences with international reference and the deepening of foreign language skills. The professional internship can also be completed in the form of a semester abroad.
Contents, qualification goals and requirements are regulated in the module description. Detailed information can be found in the guidelines for the implementation of the professional internship.
- If applicable, recognition of work experience already completed in coordination with the supervising university lecturer: Complete the form for recognition of work experience with the university lecturer and submit it to the internship officer for signature; you will receive the signed form.
- Choice of the internship place in consultation with the university lecturer (confirmation of the internship place, agreement on the contents of the internship report, agreement on the deadline for the internship)
- Complete the Professional Internship Registration Form with the university instructor and submit to the Internship Officer for signature, you will receive a copy of the signed form; registration for the internship in selma
- Implementation of the internship
- Submission of the internship report by the agreed deadline to the supervising university professor, who will decide on acceptance (if necessary, subject to conditions).
- Recognition: University lecturer and student fill out the form for recognition of work experience, this is submitted to the internship officer for signature.
- You will receive the signed form, which you must present to the examination office
Supervision of the professional internship by a university lecturer
In order to carry out the professional internship, a university teacher must be chosen to "accompany" the internship from the beginning. The teacher
- decides on the crediting of work experience already completed;
- confirms the internship position;
- agrees together with the student on the contents and the submission date of the internship report;
- confirms the successful completion of the internship after submission of the internship report.
Support in the organization of the professional internship
The student is responsible for finding a suitable internship position and for all organizational matters related to the implementation of the internship (employment contract, relocation, travel arrangements, scholarships, insurance, etc.). Internship abroad with Erasmus+
The Leonardo-Büro Sachsen awards approximately 200 Erasmus+ scholarships per year for study-related internships in European countries and outside Europe. You can apply all year round for a grant of at least two months per internship abroad. Depending on the destination country, you will receive a grant of 640 to 750 EUR per month. If, for example, you come from a non-academic home, have a degree of disability of 20 or more, or if you are taking your own children abroad, you can receive an additional funding of 250 EUR per month. Internship abroad with PROMOS
The Leonardo-Büro Sachsen, in cooperation with the International Office, awards PROMOS grants for internships abroad that will take place outside the countries participating in the Erasmus+ program. PROMOS supports you between 6 weeks and 6 months with a monthly scholarship between 300 and 500 EUR and/or a travel allowance between 250 and 2.000 EUR depending on the country. Applications for the Promos scholarship take place twice a year. Details can be found on the german page here.
