General information and application deadlines
For this degree program, proof of special aptitude must be provided in accordance with the aptitude assessment regulations dated DD.MM.YYYY. The aptitude assessment therefore precedes the actual enrolment.
Accordingly, special application deadlines must be observed, which differ from applications without an aptitude assessment procedure:
- Applications from German applicants
- for the start of studies in the winter semester must be submitted by 15.07. (start: 01.06.) of each year or
- for the start of studies in the summer semester by 15.01. (start: 01.12.) of each year

- Applicants with a university entrance qualification obtained abroad apply
- for the winter semester by 31.05. (start: 01.04.) and
- for the summer semester by 30.11. (start: 01.10.) of each year.

The decision of the aptitude assessment procedure is binary, i.e. applications are only accepted or rejected. It is not possible to impose conditions to achieve the relevant subject requirements.
Requirements for admission (according to the aptitude assessment regulations)
Language requirements
The Master's degree program is taught in English.
For this reason, appropriate knowledge of the English language at level C1 CEFR is a prerequisite for admission to the Master's degree program in Computer Science. This can be done, for example, through language certificates such as TOEFL or IELTS.
Subject requirements
Applicants for the Master's degree program in Computer Science must provide proof of sufficient subject knowledge in accordance with the aptitude assessment regulations. Accordingly, they must have
- a first professionally qualifying university degree in Computer Science;
- 90 credit points with non-overlapping content from the following areas:
- at least 35 credit points on topics of operating systems, computer networks, distributed systems, computer architecture, computer engineering, databases, data security, computer graphics or human-computer interaction;
- at least 35 credit points in the fundamentals of mathematics (for computer science), theoretical computer science or artificial intelligence,
- at least 20 credit points in the fundamentals of programming, data structures and software engineering.
Please note! Applicants who do not have a first professionally qualifying university degree at the time of application, but have already completed 80% of the credit points required for a university degree, will still be included in the aptitude assessment procedure. For this purpose, please have the form from the Admissions Office confirmed by the responsible office at your university/faculty. You must still provide proof of sufficient subject knowledge in accordance with point 02.
Documents to be submitted with the application
Please note that all supporting documents must be originals or copies of official documents! The documents must be submitted in German or English translation if they are not written in one of these languages.
- Enrollment documents according to the online application,
- Request for Verification of Specific Knowledge for the Master's degree program in Computer Science (will be provided from April 1st, 2025),
- Curriculum vitae, in particular describing your academic career to date,
- Letter of motivation, which sets out the reasons for your wish to study and your particular aptitude,
- Copy of the first professionally qualifying university degree certificate or confirmation from the responsible office at your university that at least 80% of the credit points required for the university degree have been achieved (so-called 80% certificate),
- Copies of additional certificates and proof of special aptitude,
- Module descriptions (or comparable content overviews) of the modules relevant to the Master's degree program in Computer Science,
- Proof of the required English language skills at level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) based on the result of an internationally offered test.
