Unikernels, also known as "specialized, single-address-space machine images
constructed using library operating systems"[1], have the potential of extreme
lightweightness and high performance. However they are often criticized for
limited POSIX compatibility and the lack of security features such as ASLR. In
this talk I'd like to take a closer look at several active Unikernel research
projects including OSv, Unikraft, HermitCore and MirageOS, to see how they are
tackling these issues, and explore the idea of probabilistic spatial isolation
in unikernels.
