Portrait of Professor Schubert
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Markus Schubert has been Chair of Chemical Process Engineering (Open Topic Professorship) at the Institute of Process Engineering and Environmental Technology since September 1, 2022.
Without chemical process engineering...
we would have to do without a lot of prosperity and many of our habits today and in the future. Process-engineered chemical products are omnipresent in our everyday lives and we encounter them in paints, cosmetic products, fuels, medicines, foodstuffs, fertilizers and much more. No chemical product, no new synthesis makes the leap from the laboratory to production without chemical process engineering.
Being a professor ...
means having the freedom to research exciting topics in a creative team, to transfer your enthusiasm for your subject to students and to show them prospects for their career opportunities.
Students ...
should contribute creatively and with curiosity, participate in today's discourses with the knowledge they have acquired, and take advantage of the diverse opportunities at TU Dresden beyond their own field of study. Student life is much more than just a technical education.
In the future ...
process engineering will be perceived even more strongly as a key discipline, without which the necessary changes in the process industry will not be feasible. The realization of material cycles, consistent recycling and the reduction of resource consumption can only be achieved with creative engineers. Chemical and process engineers have excellent career prospects.
If I could study again ...
then ideally it would be something with music, more helpfully something with a stronger scientific focus and realistically probably an engineering subject again.
Excellence ...
is far more than a label for lighthouses, but should permeate all levels: inspiring teaching for students, outstanding research conditions and an effective administration that makes this possible. Excellence needs innovative minds and a cooperative network.
