50 years of diploma - Golden diploma anniversary

Every year, seminar groups at the faculty of Mechanical Science and Engineering celebrate their graduation anniversaries. Many of these seminar groups have kept in touch over the years, meet regularly and relive their student days.
A special occasion for all of them is the 50th anniversary of the diploma and thus the presentation of the Golden Diploma Certificate, which is issued by the Alumni Representative after examination by the University Archives.
Seminar group 70/12/04, specializing in energy systems engineering, technical building equipment, thermal mechanical engineering; energy conversion section; “Piston worms” - 26th meeting in the history of piston worms
The seminar group itself is responsible for organizing the meeting and the supporting programme. Visiting their alma mater is a popular highlight. Of particular interest is the Zeuner Building, where many lectures were held. The visit is accompanied by a tour of the Zeuner Building and a short talk on the development of the faculty, either by a professor, a Research Associate or the faculty's alumni representative. Some groups also invite former seminar group leaders to give a personal talk. Special tours, e.g. of the workshop, the textile machine hall, the training nuclear reactor or the current Institute or Chair can be organized by arrangement.

The ceremonial presentation of the certificates is often followed by a tour of the campus by Dr. Jörg Zaun. The seminar group meetings usually take place over several days and offer the opportunity to visit Dresden and talk to former fellow students about their shared past.
In 2024, a total of around 230 golden diploma certificates were presented.

The Faculty of Mechanical Science and Engineering is always happy when alumni visit the university and stay in touch with each other as well as with their university.
