27th International Dresden Lightweight Engineering Symposium
The 27th International Dresden Lightweight Engineering Symposium is known as a platform for the interdisciplinary exchange of knowledge and experience between research, industry, society and politics. This year's International Dresden Lightweight Engineering Symposium will once again take place on June 13th and 14th, 2024 under the banner of know-how and knowledge transfer. Under the motto "Neutral Lightweight Engineering - Resilience through Technological Sovereignty", we will focus on the future of lightweight engineering, which is characterized not only by its lightness, but also by its resilience and technological sovereignty. In the face of advancing megatrends such as digitalization, sustainability, urbanization, connectivity and mobility, the need for innovation in materials, technologies and systems is becoming increasingly urgent. Innovation is essential to meet the needs of an ever-growing global population. In this context, lightweight system design is of crucial importance. It enables resource-efficient mobility and plays a key role in creating sustainable growth, creating jobs and promoting social prosperity and equity.
Given its dynamic economic development, its demographic size and its growing role on the global stage, India is proving to be an important partner for the 27th Dresden International Lightweight Symposium. As an emerging economy, India represents a considerable reservoir of technological potential and expertise in the field of lightweight engineering, opening up opportunities not only for mutual enrichment and knowledge exchange, but also for fostering intercultural synergies that strengthen innovation and international cooperation. TU Dresden and some of India's universities of excellence have long been working on joint approaches to global challenges in the field of lightweight engineering research, which is reflected in projects such as the DAAD-UGC educational project of the ILK and IIT Delhi COMPOLL.
