Excellent dissertation: Dr.-Ing. Sara Marchini receives dissertation prize from Commerzbank's Dresden Cultural Foundation
Dr.-Ing. Sara Marchini, Research Associate at the Chair of Chemical Process Engineering, has been awarded one of the dissertation prizes from Commerzbank's Dresden Cultural Foundation. The prize honors outstanding doctoral achievements at TU Dresden and is endowed with 1,000 euros.
Marchini received the award for her dissertation "Development of a Methodology for Measuring Axial Gas Dispersion Coefficients in Bubble Columns", in which she developed a novel methodology for determining axial gas dispersion coefficients in bubble columns. These systems play a central role in numerous chemical and biotechnological processes. The methodology she has developed enables more precise measurements and an improved understanding of the flow and mass transport phenomena in such reactor systems. Her research provides a valuable basis for optimizing industrial processes and for new plant concepts.
The engineer has previously been honored for her work with the Gisela and Erwin Sick Prize for Measurement Technology, the Manfred Hirschvogel Prize and, most recently, the Dr. Wilhelmy VDI Prize 2025.
In addition to Dr.-Ing. Sara Marchini, Dr. med. Haidy Amr Abdelfatah Saleh Hassan (Carl Gustav Carus Faculty of Medicine) was also awarded a dissertation prize and Dr. rer. nat. Johannes Feldbauer (Faculty of Environmental Sciences) was awarded the Dr. Walter Seipp Prize of the Commerzbank Foundation this year.
We would like to thank the Commerzbank Foundation and the Commerzbank Dresden Cultural Foundation for their continued commitment and valuable support, which contributes significantly to the promotion of early-career researchers.
