Double success for the CFLab - congratulations!

The Construction Future Lab (CFLab) - which emerged from TU Dresden in 2022 as a non-profit research and development institution - can look back on two notable successes. As one of the founding professorships, we are very pleased about this recognition - as it shows how successful the transfer of knowledge from basic research to construction practice can be.

2nd place at the Set4Future Innovation Award

As part of the Rail.S Summer Festival 2025, the CFLab team was awarded 2nd place in the Set4Future Innovation Award. The application was submitted with a digital solution for collision protection in track construction - a topic that is becoming increasingly relevant in day-to-day rail operations.

The innovation addresses a central problem in the industry: the safety of personnel and machines in the track area. With the help of geofencing technology, position tracking and real-time communication, collisions on construction sites can be avoided in advance. The solution was developed together with partners from the field.

"The combination of realistic application, technical depth and clear added value for construction site practice" - this is how the jury explained its decision.

Nomination for the Saxon Transfer Prize 2025

Also pleasing: CFLab was nominated for the Saxon Transfer Award 2025 in the spin-offs category - a recognition of successful transfer projects between science and industry. It was precisely this bridge-building that was the aim of the spin-off from the outset and makes us particularly proud as a Chair.

An impressive video (produced with Significant Pictures) was created to accompany the nomination. It presents the topics, methods and partners of the CFLab and shows how science-based innovation can be transferred into construction practice.

We congratulate the entire CFLab team - many of whom began their scientific careers at our Chair or continue to be closely associated with us - on these well-deserved successes! Both awards show how valuable exchange, collaboration and the visibility of transfer projects are for the further development of the construction industry.
