Student research projects and theses
Topics for interdisciplinary project work, major theses and dissertations can be arranged after personal consultation with the head or the designated contact persons. There are always interesting practical tasks available from regional and national industry or research institutions! See also the official notice board in the Zeuner Building (next to room 331) or the website.
Guidelines for the preparation
Please observe the guidelines for the preparation of theses at the Chair of Forming and Machining Technology.
Use of AI such as ChatGPT
With regard to the use of AI such as ChatGPT and similar, the rules from the statement of the German Research Foundation from September 2023 apply. These are available here in the original text:
Statement of the DFG Executive Committee 09/2023
In particular, the following section should be noted
"In scientific publications, only the natural persons acting responsibly can appear as authors. They must ensure that the use of generative models does not infringe the intellectual property of others and does not result in scientific misconduct, for example in the form of plagiarism."
This means that the currently published, freely usable applications, such as ChatGPT, cannot be used in a scientific environment, as the user (that's you!) has no control or knowledge of the underlying data sets. You cannot know or influence whether third-party intellectual property is being infringed.
Boundary conditions for the production of external work in industry
It is also possible to work on special operational problems in cooperation with companies. Please note the information on the preparation and supervision of external theses at the Chair of Forming and Machining Technology. Please contact us for this.
