Kick-Off SPP 2013
The new Priority Programme (SPP) 2013 - funded by Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft - kicked off at TU München (TUM) on October 17/18, 2017. Within the collaborative programme more than 20 german research institutes are investigating how resdiual stresses induced by forming processes can be used in a positive way.
After opening words from the coordinator, Prof. Volk (Institute of Metal Forming and Casting, TUM), the scientists introduced themselves and their individual projects, and developed an interface matrix for the cooperative, interdisciplinary work to follow. Particular focus was placed on the areas of production technology, mechanics and simulation, materials, measurement and testing technology, and operational stability.
Together with Prof. Brosius (Institute for Production Technology, TUD) and the Work Group Operational Strength we are investigating the positive effect of residual stresses induced by forming processes on the fatigue strength of components. In particular, we are developing phase field models for the simulation of initiation and propagation of fatigue cracks.
