Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II (NAP)
Location: Naples, Italy
Expertise: Industrial chemistry, sustainable processes, catalysis, didactics development, digitalization
The University of Naples Federico II was founded in 1224, making it the oldest secular university in the world. With around 74,000 students, it is one of the largest universities in Italy. The research group involved in the project is part of the Department of Chemical Sciences (DSC), one of the university's largest faculties, with over 80 professors and researchers. Its research activities range from functional polymers and nanotechnology to the catalytic conversion of biomass.
NAP brings extensive experience in university didactics and digital teaching to the project, particularly through initiatives such as the FEDERICO training program and the Federica Weblearning online learning platform with over 150 MOOCs. In addition to research, the university attaches great importance to knowledge transfer, inclusion and the linking of research and teaching.
In the InnoLAB project, NAP leads the preparation of the expert school, coordinates the online chemical engineering hackathon and is responsible for social media communication. In addition, NAP contributes its expertise in sustainable process engineering and chemical didactics development.
The team:
- Prof. Dr. Vincenzo Russo is an associate professor of industrial chemistry and a freelance lecturer at Åbo Akademi University. He holds two PhDs (Chemistry and Chemical Engineering) and was responsible for the Erasmus+ project STEM-CPD@EUni. Prof. Russo is strongly involved in university teaching and is committed to new didactic approaches.
- Prof. Dr. Martino Di Serio is Professor of Industrial Chemistry and former coordinator of the Master and Bachelor programs in this field at the University of Naples. His research focuses on the conversion of renewable raw materials into chemical products. He is former President of the Division of Industrial Chemistry of the Italian Chemical Society and holds numerous patents.
