Uni Live 2025: Pupils discover the Center for Energy Technology at TU Dresden
On January 9, 2025, an exciting event took place at the Center for Energy Technology (ZET) at TUD Dresden University of Technology as part of the Uni Live university information day. Twelve pupils in grades 11 and 12, who had traveled from secondary schools in Hoyerswerda, Dresden (including Tolkewitz) and even Augsburg, were given exclusive insights into the world of energy technology.
The tour was led by Dr.-Ing. Simon Unz, who first introduced the guests to the structure of TU Dresden and the role of the Chair of Energy Process Engineering (EVT). A historical outline of the site and interesting details about the former TU Dresden power plant, which once stood on the site of today's ZET, kicked off the event.
The students then explored the test facilities. Here, the diverse research projects and technical possibilities were clearly explained. The participants were attentive and asked interested questions - a sign of the enthusiasm and curiosity that this event was able to arouse.
Finally, Dr.-Ing. Unz gave an overview of the School of Engineering Sciences, provided information about the duration and process of studying mechanical engineering and explained the wide range of career opportunities in this field.
The tour of the ZET ended with the hope that the enthusiasm for engineering had been kindled. We would be delighted to see one or two of them again soon as mechanical engineering students in their first semester.
