Uni Live 2026: Insights into energy technology at TU Dresden
As part of the University Information Day Uni Live 2026, the Center for Energy Technology (ZET) at TUD Dresden University of Technology opened its doors to technology enthusiasts in grades 11 and 12 on January 15, 2026. They took the opportunity to get to know the world of energy technology up close.
The event was led by Dr.-Ing. Simon Unz, who began by giving an overview of TU Dresden, its structure and the classification of the Chair of Energy Process Engineering (EVT). An exciting look back at the history of the site and the former TU Dresden power plant, which was once located on the site of today's ZET, provided a successful introduction.
The students then explored the center's experimental facilities. Current research projects and technical applications were vividly presented. The group showed great interest, asked numerous questions and used the opportunity for direct exchange - a clear sign of the curiosity aroused in engineering topics.
Finally, Dr.-Ing. Unz provided information about engineering studies at TU Dresden. In addition to the structure and duration of the mechanical engineering course, possible career paths and prospects after graduation were also outlined.
The tour of the ZET ended with the aim of awakening enthusiasm for technology and engineering. Perhaps we will soon be able to welcome one or the other as a freshman studying mechanical engineering at TU Dresden.
