Cross-Border Cooperation in Energy Research: The Czech Republic and Saxony Engage in an Exchange
Representatives from the Green Energy Technology Center (GET) at Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem (UJEP) and the Future Energy Lab (FEL) at TU Dresden.
On July 1, 2026, representatives from the Green Energy Technology Center (GET) at Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem (UJEP) and the Future Energy Lab (FEL) at TUD Dresden University of Technology came together for their first joint workshop. The goal of the meeting was to present the research activities of both institutions, identify synergies, and develop initial ideas for future collaboration.
Following a round of introductions, presentations by both centers offered exciting insights into their respective fields of research. The intensive professional exchange, numerous discussions, and the open atmosphere clearly demonstrated the great potential for joint projects in the field of sustainable energy technologies.
A particular highlight was the guided tours of the new research building of the Institute of Power Engineering as well as selected areas of the Center for Energy Technology at TU Dresden. These tours gave the guests a firsthand look at the modern research infrastructure and current work in the field of energy process engineering.
Special thanks go to Prof. Dr.-Ing. Michael Beckmann and Doc. Ing. Jan Novotný for initiating and organizing this first meeting, as well as to Prof. Dr.-Ing. Christiane Thomas, Prof. Michael Beckmann, and Dr.-Ing. Daniel Bernhardt for the fascinating tours and demonstrations.
The meeting marked a successful start to closer collaboration. Together, the partners now wish to take the next steps, further develop project ideas, and, in particular, explore opportunities for cross-border collaboration —including within the framework of an Interreg project.
We are already looking forward to seeing everyone again this fall at UJEP and to continuing this promising exchange.
