MILTON VAN DYKE AWARD - “CHEMICAL FLOWERS: BUOYANCY-DRIVEN INSTABILITIES UNDER MODULATED GRAVITY”
Yorgos Stergiou (Chair of Transport Processes at Interfaces) was awarded the Milton Van Dyke award for his Gallery of Fluid Motion contribution during the 74 th APS Division of Fluid Dynamics Meeting (Phoenix, AZ) on 22 nd November 2021. The video with title “Chemical Flowers: buoyancy-driven instabilities under modulated gravity ”can be found here: https://gfm.aps.org/meetings/dfd-2021/613f7219199e4c7029f44c2a .
In this work characteristic patterns in radial Reaction-Diffusion-Advection fronts are presented. The experiments were conducted aboard a European Space Agency Parabolic Flight in November 2020. Co-authors are Dr. Karin Schwarzenberger and Prof. Kerstin Eckert along with partners of the CHYPI-FLOWER ESA Topical Team.
