Patrick Schlereth receives BASF Schwarzheide GmbH award
Patrick Schlereth received an award from BASF Schwarzheide GmbH for his project work "Investigation of bubble-particle attachment and surface packing on a capillary-held bubble in a model stirred cell - an approach to quantify particle floatability". The prize was awarded on June 24, 2023, on the occasion of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Day at the Boulevard Theater in Dresden. The BASF Schwarzheide GmbH Award is given for outstanding student and scientific work with a focus on sustainability, the circular economy or digitalization.
Patrick Schlereth worked on a topic to better understand froth flotation, which is used for ore processing, in wastewater treatment and in recycling processes. In his work, he established a new method that allows access to the small-scale processes directly at the bubble surface. Thus, the influence of flotation parameters on the immediate attachment kinetics of different particles can be determined. With his project thesis, Mr. Schlereth made a remarkable contribution to an environmentally friendly and economical purification of raw materials and recycling materials.
