Biohybrid particles and surface engineering
The “Biohybrid particles and surface engineering” group innovates materials on the micro- and nanoscale to manipulate the biological response of these synthetic materials on the human body. We develop novel micro- and nanomaterials, engineer their surfaces to design adaptive functions, and translate such materials into real applications. It requires a profound understanding of physics, medicine, chemistry, and materials science to advance materials for healthcare and technical applications, such as functional membrane coatings, engineered living contrast agents, drug release, implants and sensorics. Following the interdisciplinary spirit of the group, we especially revolutionize carbon-based nanomaterials and develop living hybrid materials. The group collaborate closely with the Fraunhofer IKTS and the BIOTEC of the Dresden University of Technology.
