I have studied at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, in the University of Ioannina and completed my diploma thesis at the laboratory of Applied Metallurgy (Prof. Dr. Angeliki G. Lekatou) on "Corrosion resistance of Ti alloy modified by laser surface treatment". I worked with degradation experiments in Simulated Body Fluid for additively manufactured and conventionally wrought Ti-6Al-4V alloy, with prospective use for dental implants. Afterwards, I carried out an Erasmus+ internship in the Group of Corrosion and Surfaces (Dr.-Ing. Ute Bergmann), with the aim to study and control the degradation rate of biodegradable metals, namely rolled and AM Zinc alloys, by applying anodic polarization treatment and corrosion in SBF solution. Thanks to the Ingeborg-Gross-Foundation Scholarship, I have started working in the aforementioned group, to carry out my PhD research regarding the development of superhydrophobic-piezoelectric coatings for biomedical purposes, such as blood-contacting medical devices.
