The Institute of Lightweight Engineering and Polymer Technology (ILK) at TU Dresden is led by a six-member Institute Board. The Board brings together scientific, organizational and administrative responsibilities for the leadership of the institute.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Maik Gude
As Director of the Institute, Professor Maik Gude is responsible for the scientific and strategic leadership of the ILK. He holds the Chair of Lightweight Systems Engineering and MultiMaterial Design and represents the institute within TU Dresden and in its collaboration with partners from academia and industry.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Niels Modler
Professor Niels Modler holds the Chair of Function-integrative Lightweight Engineering at the ILK and is an Associate Member of the Institute Board. Until 2030, he serves as Vice-Rector Academic Affairs Across the Life Course at TU Dresden.

Dr.-Ing. Sebastian Spitzer
Dr. Sebastian Spitzer represents the Chair of Function-integrated Lightweight Engineering at the ILK. In his work, he contributes to the institute’s scientific development and its international collaboration.
Dr.-Ing. Jörn Jaschinski
Dr. Jörn Jaschinski represents the Chair of Function-integrated Lightweight Engineering at the ILK and contributes his scientific expertise to the further development of the institute’s technical infrastructure and research environments.

PD Dr. Robert Kupfer is a Senior Scientist at the ILK. His research focuses in particular on questions of circular economy in lightweight engineering and polymer technology.
