First dissertation in the bi-national doctoral program between Technischen Universität Dresden and Politechnika Warszawska successfully completed
Within the scientific cooperation between the Technischen Universität Dresden (TUD) and Politechnika Warszawska (WUT) Michał Kubiś was the first joint doctoral student of the Faculty of Mechanical Science and Engineering of the TUD and the Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering of the WUT to successfully complete his doctorate in September 2019.
In his dissertation "Study on modification of thermal properties of epoxy-based composites" Mr. Kubiś investigated the influence of micro and nano fillers on the thermo-mechanical properties of fibre composites. Using an experimental-numerical approach, Mr. Kubiś was able to develop solutions to increase thermal conductivity in the thickness direction and thus open up new applications for high-performance materials. The doctorate was supervised by Prof. Michał Wiśniewski (WUT) and Prof. Maik Gude (TUD).
In July 2017, the Technischen Universität Dresden and the Politechnika Warszawska established a German-Polish doctoral program. A major goal of the programme is the encouragement of young scientists through jointly supervised doctoral theses and the synergetic use of the infrastructure of the two universities as part of guest stays. The doctoral students are each supervised by a professor from Technischen Universität Dresden and a professor from Politechnika Warszawska.
