Global meeting place for composites experts: Dresden to host ECCM23
After an inspiring participation at the European Conference on Composite Materials (ECCM21) in Nantes with over 1000 participants, the ILK returns with significant news: Dresden will host ECCM23 in 2028. This decision underlines Dresden's leading role as a center for pioneering developments in microelectronics, nanotechnology, robotics and composite materials research and development. The choice of Dresden as the venue for ECCM23 reaffirms its importance as an ideal setting for international scientific gatherings, supported by a rich ecosystem of academic institutions, research centers and industrial partners dedicated to the advancement of materials science. TU Dresden, with its 32,000 students, is synonymous with excellence and is an outstanding nucleus of research with 46 leading institutions. Supported by Dresden-concept e.V., it actively promotes interdisciplinarity and scientific exchange.
Comprehensive research topics on fiber composites are explored not only at TU Dresden, but also at the Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research Dresden and the numerous Fraunhofer Institutes. This includes composite material design, fiber and interface chemistry, simulation techniques, processing methods and testing procedures.
Dresden's expertise in functional integration, the development of bio-based fibres and composites as well as the assessment of ecological impact and digitalization is particularly noteworthy. This is supported by a vibrant, open scientific network that establishes Dresden as a dynamic and progressive European city. Interdisciplinary research transcends disciplinary boundaries and consolidates Dresden's reputation as a leading center for research and development in Europe. This high level of expertise and the diverse research facilities make Dresden the location for ECCM23, where pioneering findings and innovative approaches in composite materials technology will be presented and discussed.
The ILK would like to thank the European Society for Composite Materials (ESCM) for its ongoing support in promoting knowledge exchange and global collaboration within the composites community. More information about the ESCM and its initiatives is available on its official website: European Society for Composite Materials.
As preparations for ECCM23 in Dresden are now underway, ILK Dresden is looking forward to welcoming participants from all over the world for a dynamic and intellectually stimulating conference experience in 2028.
