"Quark with linseed oil": New syntral podcast makes innovation and technology transfer in Lusatia audible
With the podcast “Quark and Linseed Oil,” the syntral project launches a new format offering insights into innovation, collaboration, and knowledge transfer in Lusatia. The podcast brings together people from academia, industry, politics, and society who are actively shaping the region’s transformation.
The name of the podcast is deliberately chosen: Quark mit Leinöl ('quark with linseed oil') is a traditional Lusatian dish and symbolizes regional identity and exchange. This is exactly what the podcast is about—ideas, perspectives, and projects that help shape the future together.
Host Dr. Thomas Heber speaks with guests from a wide range of fields about current developments in the Lusatia transfer region. The focus is on topics such as innovation, technology transfer, successful collaborations between academia and industry, and specific projects that are driving structural change in the region.
First episodes provide insights into the project and lightweight engineering
The first two episodes already offer engaging insights into the topics and stakeholders behind the project. In Episode 1, host Thomas Heber takes listeners on a brief journey through Lusatia and, together with syntral project coordinator Dr. Mike Thieme and Roland Salowsky, head of Bildungsgut Schmochtitz, introduces the project and its goals. The discussion covers project partners, current regional activities, and how knowledge and technology transfer works in practice.
Episode 2 addresses a question many listeners raised after the first episode: What exactly is lightweight engineering? To answer this, Thomas Heber speaks with PD Dr.-Ing. habil. Robert Kupfer from the Institute of Lightweight Engineering and Polymer Technology (ILK) at TU Dresden about fundamentals, applications, and the importance of lightweight engineering for innovation and industry.
The conversations provide insights into the work of the involved stakeholders and highlight the opportunities arising from new technologies, networks, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
The first two episodes are already available online and can be accessed via the project website as well as on Spotify, Amazon Music, and Deezer.
