Study in Dresden - your chance!
Have you ever wondered why airplanes are so light and yet stable? Or why modern bicycles weigh less and less but are becoming more robust at the same time? The answer lies in lightweight engineering – a key technology that is all around you.
Lightweight engineering is about using materials in such a way that components are particularly light and yet extremely resilient. This saves energy and resources and makes cars faster, bicycles more efficient and airplanes more economical, for example. This is exactly what we are researching at the Institute of Lightweight Engineering and Polymer Technology (ILK) at TU Dresden - one of the largest faculties at the University of Excellence.
Lightweight engineering you can touch
Over a year ago, our engineer Lisa gave an insight into our research in the "Dresden Ambassadors" video series produced by the state capital of Dresden. She shows how we develop lightweight engineering technologies and at the same time research how fiber-reinforced plastics can be recycled. After all, sustainability is not just a trend, but a must for the future. Today, these topics are even more important than ever before – and this is exactly where you can get involved!
