Get Together 2023
In October 2023, the traditional Get Together for the students of the Department of Lightweight Engineering took place. Starting at 3:00 pm, all current students gathered in the courtyard in front of the LEIV (National Lightweight Validation Centre) to spend a convivial evening together. This event, organized by the ILK, served as a platform for networking at various levels and provided an informal opportunity for the ILK's expert groups to introduce themselves to the students.
A central aim of this annual event is to promote exchange between students and ILK staff. It is also intended to support the rapid integration of new students at the beginning of the winter semester in order to facilitate a smooth start to their studies and the associated social integration into the student community. The event was deliberately designed to be both binding and attractive for all students in order to ensure a high level of participation. Another aim was to promote cooperation and exchange between the different year groups in order to build a strong network within the institute. The ILK attaches great importance to establishing a culture of welcome, communication and learning that includes students of all nationalities and promotes diversity and intercultural exchange.
The Get Together not only offered participants the opportunity to network, but also to experience entertaining team games related to lightweight engineering. The games were designed to strengthen cohesion and trust among the students, but also with the institute's staff. The most successful teams were rewarded with prizes. All participants contributed to a positive and dynamic atmosphere and clearly enjoyed the joint activities.
The traditional get-together was a complete success. It made a significant contribution to strengthening the community of students specialising in lightweight construction and promoting exchange between the various year groups and ILK staff. The ILK also offers students numerous opportunities outside of teaching to support their integration. Such events are a welcome change from the normal study routine and help to strengthen the sense of community. With the help of EDI:TUD, in particular EDI:TUD iMentor Fathia Fadila, the focus was placed on the position of international students, their integration and the internationalisation of the Lightweight Engineering degree programme. We are already looking forward to the next meeting next year. We are already looking forward to the next meeting next year.
