Specialisation: Lightweight Engineering

TU Dresden’s Institute of Lightweight Engineering and Polymer Technology educates students of the Faculty of Mechanical Science and Engineering, the “Friedrich List” Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, and Industrial Engineering (after the intermediate diploma “Vordiplom”) and offers according education.

Application-oriented studies at ILK

Students pursuing Lightweight Engineering at TU Dresden combine a strong foundation in engineering fundamentals with cutting-edge research and state-of-the-art experimental facilities. At the ILK, the latest research findings are directly integrated into teaching. The program is based on the Dresden model of "Function-Integrated Systems Lightweight Design in Multi-Material Design."
Students gain hands-on experience using advanced manufacturing and testing facilities, become involved in research projects early in their studies, and benefit from guest lectures by experts from industry. This interdisciplinary education prepares graduates for a wide range of career opportunities in industry, academia, and international research networks.
