Research aircraft
A single-engine Cessna 172 (registration D-EMWF) is available at the Chair of Aircraft Engineering as a research aircraft since May 2023 for research and teaching.

- Seating capacity: 1 crew + 3 passengers
Capabilities for research flights
- Maximum flight time of 4 h to 5 h (depending on payload) per flight
- Flight velocity range of 45 kts to 128 kts (CAS) // 83 km/h to 237 km/h (CAS)
- 2 seats for reseachers for supervising and controlling measurements and flight experiments
- Use in sole ground testing of different systems possible
Addition of research equipment
- Installation of measuring equipment in the adapted baggage compartment
- Addition of supplemental displays in the cockpit
Futher use
In addtion, the D-EMWF is used to support teaching classes at the TU Dresden.
