Our department at the action day in Hoyerswerda
Our mobile wind tunnel, set up as a test facility in Hoyerswerda, where interested parties could measure aerodynamic effects.
On April 18, 2026, our department—as part of a group of participating departments from the Smart Mobility Lab—represented our research institute at an eventful open house in Hoyerswerda. Our colleague Florian Sell was on site to give visitors exciting insights into our work.
The test rig equipped with precision scales for measuring aerodynamic forces
The centerpiece of our booth was an interactive experiment that was met with great enthusiasm, especially among the younger guests: a mobile wind tunnel. Here, children and teenagers could experience the physical fundamentals of aerodynamics firsthand. By testing different wing profiles, the generation of lift forces was made literally tangible.
Using a precision scale, the young researchers were able to independently measure and compare the effects of different profiles on lift. Such hands-on experiments are an important part of our mission to convey complex technical concepts in an understandable way and to spark an early interest in the mobility of the future.
We are delighted with the successful presentation in Hoyerswerda and the lively exchange with the many interested visitors!
