Grand finale in Dresden: ASCenSIon Conference at TUD - "Call for Abstracts
In 2020 European training network "ASCenSIon" for sustainable access to space was started. The project is funded by the European Union (EU) within the framework of the Horizon 2020 programme with more than 3.8 million euros. The aim is to develop innovative technologies for future launch systems designed for reusability and the safe disposal of rockets.
As a crowning event, the Chair of Space Systems at TU Dresden is organising the ASCenSIon Conference from 12 to 14 September 2023. In addition to the presentation of their research results by the 15 ESRs (Early-Stage-Researchers) who are going through the training network to complete their PhD, the conference offers a platform for interdisciplinary scientific exchange with a special focus on the topics of reusability, the challenges of the changing payload transport as well as an economic and ecological implementation of space transport through, for example, environmentally friendly propellants and the reduction of space debris through a safe return to Earth.
The "Call for Abstracts" is now open and invites scientists from all over the world to present their research results to the public at the ASCenSIon Conference. A full listing of the addressed topics as well as formalities for submitting abstracts can be found on the conference website. In addition to the presentation of scientific projects and results, there will also be keynote speeches and panel discussions with representatives from politics and industry.
Particularly noteworthy is the special issue of "Acta Astronautica", the most important journal for space technology, which will be published by Elsevier in cooperation with ASCenSIon after the conference. After authors have been accepted for the ASCenSIon Conference, they are invited to submit their publication for the special issue of the journal. Further information is also available on the conference website.
