The construction industry faces massive challenges resulting from low productivity and increasing labour shortages. Digitisation and automation of all relevant processes are possible solutions to address these urgent challenges. The digital building process with concrete is a key feature in this process. Much work in this field focuses on fine concrete printing, but this is unsuitable as a substitute for monolithic on-site construction. The TU Dresden performs full-format concrete 3D printing with standard-compliant concrete and the usual maximum grain size. In this process, the outer shape and the statically relevant cross-section are produced in a single operation. Compared to fine concrete printing, this reduces material costs while increasing productivity and environmental compatibility.
