Innovative Insights: Students Explore HYDAC Facilities in Sulzbach

s part of the module "Fluid-Mechatronics in Mobile Applications," students from the Dresden University of Technology (TUD) and the University of Applied Sciences Dresden (HTW) had the opportunity to gain fascinating insights into the HYDAC facilities in Sulzbach during the winter semester of 2023/24.

The excursion was expertly led by HYDAC Mobile Hydraulics, who, with enthusiastic commitment and support from various business areas (including fluid power, accumulator technology, mobile hydraulics, and e-mobility), presented the extensive range of their business fields. Informative and captivating insights into component production and testing, along with impressive demonstrations from pre-development, made for an informative and enjoyable visit, truly justifying the considerable journey.

Particular highlights of the excursion were the partially and fully automated production lines in solenoid tube and accumulator assembly. Students were visibly impressed by the multitude and variety of components manufactured in Sulzbach.

From a mobile hydraulic perspective, the presentation of automation concepts for a mobile excavator was especially captivating. The demonstration of Cartesian control and Geo-Fencing technology generated enthusiasm and a certain thrill: Students could experience firsthand as an excavator bucket swung towards them and, thanks to autonomous braking, came to a timely stop – an impressive experience!

Last but not least, the concepts and products related to e-mobility were also impressive, especially for the LFD's supervisor with a background in electrical engineering. HYDAC, through gaining expertise in the battery and electric motor segment, can showcase innovative developments.
