Electro-hydraulic drives with speed variable pumps
Research Task/Objectives
By changing the rotational speed of a hydraulic pump energy consumption and noise can be reduced. The different combinations of designs of electric motors and hydraulic pumps allow the implementation of systems with special static and dynamic characteristics. The objective is the analysis of the different electro-hydraulic pump drives, based on speed variable pumps with both fixed and variable displacement. The drive capacity, the energy consumption of the drive, and the controller as well as the potential use cases are main topics of the studies.
Approach/Results
The emphasis is on the systematic investigation of the eligibility of electrical drive systems to be used as pump drives, the extended analysis of hydraulic pumps in speed variable operation mode, the development of concepts for hydraulic circuits, and control algorithms for differential cylinders, and concepts for the energy optimized control for speed variable, variable displacement pumps. Finally, the capacity of such an electro-hydraulic drive is demonstrated for an injection moulding machine.
The contribution is based on the project "Electrohydraulic drive systems with speed variable pumps" initiated and financed by the Forschungsfonds Fluidtechnik within VDMA (FKM No. 071340). |
