The Chair of Machine Tool Development and Adaptive Control is developing an AI-based control for the thermoforming process of plastic packaging with recycled content. Recyclates, i.e. recycled plastics that have already been disposed of at least once, change the material and thus also the process properties. In order to produce new packaging of consistently high quality from them, machines and production processes must be continuously adapted. AI can be used to predict process behavior and thus proves to be a promising way to manage large fluctuations in the material's processability. |
