DFG-funded SFB/TR 96 develops control-system integrated methods to correct thermic induced errors and measures to homogenise temperature fields respectively to compensate heat introduction. This aims to secure the compliance with machining accuracy while increasing the productivity without the need of additional energy input for tempering the machine tools.

The LWM has both the professional competence of qualified staff and modern technical equipment for the chair's own experimental field. Thus, the professorship is well positioned to master the increasingly complex tasks – e.g. in the field of mobile measurement technology or the analysis of data.
