Module Control of Motion-Guided Machines
This is an elective module for the branch of study Production Engineering for the Diplom programme Mechanical Engineering as well as for the branch of study Production Engineering for the postgraduate course Mechanical Engineering.
The module consists of the lectures
- Fundamentals of machine tool controls
- PLC lab
- CNC lab
Fundamental knowledge and methodical skills of function and motion control of motion-guided machines is imparted, focussed on machine-orientated control functions for serial and parallel kinematics, especially with servo drive. In the field of function control this applies particularly to execution principles, types of realisation, means of description and design and function of classical and modern control and field bus systems. In the field of motion control this applies in particular design and components of control systems, control of feed axis, kinematic transformation, path interpolation, model-based approach to improve the motion accuracy as well as design and function of drive bus systems. The students gain practical experience in design, compilation and test of control functionality of production mechanisms by means of IEC-61131, in adjusting and optimisation of control loops at various feed axis, in motion generation and programming in control, in model-based correction of motion errors and in rating the motion quality of motion-guided machines.
The module is offered every academic year during the summer semester and 7 credit points can be acquired. The module grade consists of the examination grade.
