Excursions in the summer semester 2024
Excursions 2024
This semester, the Chair of Mechanical Engineering once again offered three excursions to give students an insight into the work of local mechanical engineering companies.
The excursion program began on 30.04.24 with a tour of TAKRAF GmbH in Lauchhammer, focusing on the development and construction of mining and conveyor technology. Afterwards, the F60 conveyor bridge manufactured by the predecessor company VEB TAKRAF could be driven over in the visitor mine of the same name as an impressive monument to the mining industry.
The excursion to Auma Drives GmbH in Coswig on 29.05.24 dealt with somewhat smaller component dimensions. Here, the production and assembly of modern industrial gearboxes for a wide range of applications could be viewed. The high level of vertical integration and the variety of processing machines were particularly impressive.
The excursion programme concluded on 4 June with a visit to Schmiedeberger Gießerei GmbH, which specializes in the series production of cast parts ranging from a few hundred grams to around 400 kilograms. The spectacular casting process could be viewed up close during a guided tour of the factory, allowing the theoretical knowledge of casting gained during the course to be backed up with practical experience.
The Chair of Machine Elements would like to thank all those involved in the companies who made the excursion program possible. Special thanks go to Matthias Gnilke (TAKRAF), Michael Schmidt (Auma) and Dr. Falko Uyma (Schmiedeberger Gießerei).
